Anne Hathaway Covers InStyle’s July Edition

Anne Hathaway covers this month’s issue of InStyle.

In an absolutely stunning spread, the actress talks to the mag about her sense of style, life as an actress and working on “The Devil Wears Prada” with Meryl Streep.

The folks at InStyle asked the actress about her style philosophy.
Her response was packed with loads of fabulous advice and praise for Rachel Zoe.

“If you’re going to be glamorous, it has to be tempered with eccentricity so that it incorporates your own personality. Dressing up is great, but you need a twist. And one of my biggest style influences has been Rachel Zoe, who introduced me to glamour. Now I’m kind of pushing her a little bit to explore the eccentric side. Lately, I’ve been having a lot more fun with how I dress. I am braving the idea of ending up on a worst-dressed list, but I’m also a lot happier with what I wear.”

Presidential Hopeful Inspires Donatella Versace

You should’ve guessed we’re not talking about Senator John McCain.

The Associated Press reports.

MILAN, Italy – The latest “first” for Barack Obama comes off the Milan runway.Calling the U.S. presidential hopeful “the man of the moment,” Donatella Versace dedicated her Spring-Summer 2009 collection presented Saturday evening to Obama, creating a style she said was designed for “a relaxed man who doesn’t need to flex muscles to show he has power.”

Chatting with reporters in the cool of the garden of her private palazzo in downtown Milan at an after-show dinner party, the designer also had some fashion tips for the campaign trail. “I would get rid of the tie and jazz up the shirt,” she said.

In fact, there were no ties in Donatella’s latest show, and shirts under jackets were either super easy with rolled up sleeves or replaced by a silk T-shirt.

Giving Ri-Ri A Hard Time

Zoe, writer for the UK’s Sunday Mirror, gives Rihanna a hard time on her style in recent days. The Showbiz commentator gives the singer a failing grade for her fashion choices during her appearance on NBC’s Today Show and her publicity tour for the re-release of her album.

Rihanna’s fashion sense has gone from bad to worse.

Just take a look at these two outfits she wore on stage in New York.

Her mismatch of a frilly skirt and French police cap, then – later – tight leather trousers underneath a feathered skirt, was horrendous.

Her album is called Good Girl Gone Bad. It must refer to her taste in clothes.

200 Hours of Community Service for Campbell

In addition to being banned from British Airways, fashion model Naomi Campbell has been ordered to contribute to the community after acting all crazy with the airline’s employees. Reuters reports:

A London court sentenced Naomi Campbell to 200 hours of community service on Friday after the British supermodel pleaded guilty to assaulting two police officers during an expletive-filled “air rage” incident in April.

The 38-year-old had faced up to six months in prison and a fine of 5,000 pounds ($9,800) for the assaults, but Uxbridge Magistrate’s Court in west London imposed a community service sentence, which involves unpaid work, under a 12-month order.

Wearing a dark suit and sunglasses, Campbell was escorted by her minders through a large scrum of reporters and photographers waiting outside the court building.

The court heard how Campbell swore and screamed abuse at the captain of the Los Angeles-bound British Airways flight when she learned one of her bags had gone missing.

In April, the airline was beset by problems with check-in and baggage handling systems at the newly opened 4.3 billion pound ($8.6 billion) Terminal 5. Hundreds of flights were canceled and tens of thousands of suitcases went missing.

Prosecutors said Campbell ordered the captain to find her missing luggage and became violent when police tried to escort her off the aircraft. The model pleaded guilty to assaulting two police officers and to a public order offense.

In addition to the community service, Campbell was ordered to pay compensation of 200 pounds ($394) to one of the police officers, 150 pounds to the captain and a further 2,300 pounds in fines.

Earlier Campbell’s spokesman, Alan Edwards, said outside court that she conceded the incident had been “regrettable.”

Shortly after the incident, media reported Campbell had been banned from flying on British Airways as a result of the outburst.

Diane von Furstenberg Launches Cruise Collection

The latest designer to launch into the foreign cruise runway moment is Diane von Furstenberg.

And we ♥ what we’re seeing!

Yesterday, she staged a show in Italy’s Florentine garden as celebrity and sports greats mingled with Italian aristocrats.

According to Fashion Wire Daily, Diane’s drawing power was clear from the A-listers in the front row. Tony Parker and Eva Longoria sat between princes and princesses of the Corsini, Torlonia,Borromeo and Pucci family, along with Western Europe’s greatest dandy Lapo Elkann.

It being Diane, this cruise also attracted the great and the good of fashion media: Vanity Fair’s Elizabeth Saltzman, Suzy Menkes and Hamish Bowles, plus a smattering of designers - Christian Louboutin, Eva Cavalli and ever elegant Eric Wright.

Eli’s Wife Gets An F for Her Fashion Sense

The New York Post has reported on Eli Manning’s wife’s shoddy appearance at an event Tuesday.

Here’s Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning and his missus out on the town, hobnobbing with the rich and famous at one of Manhattan’s chicest parties.

The couple turned up at the uber-cool Whitney Contemporaries Art Party and Auction Tuesday at the Skylight Studios.

The well-heeled crowd included society staples Tinsley Mortimer and Ivanka Trump.

But one fashionista sniffed that the Mannings’ fashion sense scored no points.

Abby McGrew’s dress is “too short, too tight, and doesn’t fit well. The zipper doesn’t zip and she’s bursting out of it,” said Linda Mann, head of Mann Media, who was eyeing photos of the beauty yesterday.

As for Super Bowl MVP Eli, Mann said he was a bit underdressed at the trendy happening.

“I think he’s still adjusting to Manhattan,” said one sympathetic partygoer.
