Queen Latifah’s Getting Sued

After celebrating her birthday at a star-studded party this weekend, Queen Latifah’s Monday got off to a potentially bad start.

Reuters reports indicate that two lawsuits were filed against the singer-actress today by a makeup artist and stylist.

The two claim they are owed hundreds of thousands of dollars for their services over the past five years, according to the news item.

In two separate lawsuits filed in Manhattan federal court, cosmetics consultant Roxanna Floyd and fashion stylist Susan Moses accused the Grammy Award-winning singer, whose real name is Dana Owens, of breach of contract.

Floyd claimed she is owed more than $700,000 for helping develop, produce and market the “Queen Collection,” which is the singer’s line of cosmetics for CoverGirl.

Moses claimed she is owed more than $300,000 including for advising Owens, 39, in her role as the spokeswoman and model for “Curvations,” a lingerie line that targets fuller figured women.

The lawsuits said Floyd and Moses ended their working relationships with Owens in February 2008. Both women have also consulted for Owens in her film roles, including “Hairspray” in 2007.

A spokeswoman for Owens was not immediately available for comment.
