Fergie’s Shoes!

BROWN SHOE FERGALICIOUS

Seems like we’ve been hearing about this forever.

Finally, Fergie and Fergalicious by Fergie footwear have begun their spring launches.

What’s the difference between the two?

Apparently, Fergie footwear is a line of sophisticated, sexy footwear with a glam rock influence.

They’re priced between $69 and $129, and available at stores like Nordstrom, Von Maur, Belk and Bon Ton.

Fergalicious by Fergie are more fun and funky, according to Brown Shoe, the company behind the project.

That line is available at Famous Footwear, FamousFootwear.com, JC Penney and Sears for $39-$69.

Fashion Week Falls Victim to Economy

Following fashion weeks in New York, Paris and Milan, we’re hearing of cost cutting at another major fashion event.

This time it’s Russian Fashion Week.

Not so popular, we know, but it shows that the declining economy is affecting every corner of the world.

The event has shortened its Fall/Winter 2009/2010 season schedule hosting approximately 50 shows as opposed to 65-75 in previous years.

It turns out that as is the case in Paris and Milan, a lot of designers are opting to make presentations instead of full fashion shows due to budget constraints.

Just in case you’re wondering who shows collections at RFW, it’s usually the best Russian and Ukrainian designers with insets of French, Italian and Spanish names.

Who Was Stephen Sprouse?

Image :: Welovesprouse.com

If you don’t know who Stephen Sprouse was, it’s about time you found out.

Think Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, punk fashion of the 80′s and you’ll be on the right track.

Sprouse’s first collaboration with Louis Vuitton came in 2001 when Artistic Director Marc Jacobs invited him to refresh the Monogram canvas.

If he can be credited with anything at all, it should be for shaking up LV designs and making the brand fly and relevant.

He was so important to the leather goods maker that they’ve created two exceptional collections in his honor.

Enter the Marc Jacobs-designed pop collection, inspired by two of Sprouse’s emblematic motifs, the rose and graffiti.

According to the LVMH’s “The Magazine,” day-glo shades of pink, green and orange emblazon the limited series Monogram Roses and Monogram Graffiti lines.

The leather goods maker is also joining the New York Deitch Project gallery for the first retrospective of Sprouse’s work.

Check out WeLoveSprouse.com for more on the late designer, whose life ended in 2004.

Ladies in Bikinis Spell ______?

COSMOPOLITAN MAGAZINE BIKINI BASH

Now this is one of the most interesting publicity efforts I’ve seen in a long time.

On Saturday, Cosmopolitan Magazine hosted its second annual Bikini Bash on Miami Beach.

It was sponsored by NIVEA.

And the organizers had over 700 bikini-clad women gather on the shores of Miami Beach to spell out C-O-S-M-O  and N-I-V-E-A.

Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer, Vincent Laforet, shot from a helicopter above.

You’ll see the final photo in Cosmo’s August 2009 issue.

I wonder how long they had to be out there on the scorching sand before the shoot wrapped up?

Go Geek Chic for Less

geek-chic-at-uo

Chris Brown, Angela Simmons and Erykah Badu have all rocked the oversized bespectacled look recently.

Yes, I am a fan of this look!

Sure you can get the Urkel-esque readers from top labels for a couple hundred bucks.

But I came across these on Urbanoutfitters.com and had to share.

They’re just $18. That way, if you buy them and don’t like them, you won’t have lost much.

We shouldn’t be spending a whole lot on trendy pieces anyways.

If your pockets are deeper however, you’ll want to check out this $300 pair by Cutler & Gross.

Tyra Banks Responds to Unruly ANTM Casting Call

Tyra Banks and Ken Mok have issued a statement in response to Saturday’s casting-call-gone-wrong via CW’s blog.

We are concerned by the events that occurred Saturday afternoon in the vicinity of the New York City casting call for the next cycle of ‘America’s Next Top Model.’ At this time, we still don’t know all the details of what happened or what triggered the incident. We appreciate the efforts of the NYPD and will assist them in any way possible in this matter.

Still a few questions.

What about the people who stood in line but didn’t get to audition because of the brawl?

Will there by another casting call in the New York area?

Will ANTM producers add another city to the audition schedule as a substitute for the NYC one?

Maybe we’ll get more answers as the story unfolds. Stay tuned!

Fashionistas, Start Spending!

NEWSWEEK MARCH 23

Just a few weeks ago, fashionistas were relabeled recessionistas.

The movie, Confessions of A Shopaholic was rebuked by economy experts for glamourizing excessive spending.

But if this week’s issue of Newsweek is anything to go by, it’s time to shop, folks!

Available on newsstands tomorow, the cover screams, “I Want You to Start Spending!” Daniel Gross writes about how we, as consumers, need to start taking risks again in the economy and start spending to help the recovery.

Visit your local shopping centre this week, or get online and get that purse or pair of shoes you’ve been eyeing.

Why? Because the U.S. economy needs it!
