The CW’s Wednesdays Get Fashionable

The CW has announced its schedule for 2009-2010.

And Wednesdays are looking a bit more fashionable.

“America’s Next Top Model” returns at 8-9 p.m., as usual.

And it will be followed by a new glamor-themed drama, “The Beautiful Life.”

It’s produced by Ashton Kutcher (and other folks) and is being labeled a “fashion-based” series giving viewers an inside look at “the cutthroat world of a group of young, beautiful and very sexy models living together in a models’ residence in New York City.”

The cast reads Sara Paxton (“Last House on the Left”), Mischa Barton (“The O.C.”) and supermodel Elle Macpherson (“Friends”).

The announcement also confirmed Tyra will continue her TV takeover by claiming two daytime slots on the network. The CW’s daytime block will feature two hours of “The Tyra Banks Show,” with an encore episode from 3:00-4:00 p.m. and an original episode from 4:00-5:00 p.m.

Celebs Fight AIDS with Style at H&M

Estelle-H&M-1

Next Thursday, H&M will officially debut several celebrity designs in the fight against AIDS.

Estelle, Katy Perry, Dita von Teese, Robyn and N.E.R.D are some of the A-listers who’ve signed on to help.

The project, called Fashion Against AIDS, is an awareness and fundraising project between H&M and the charity Designers Against AIDS (DAA),.

All the designs send a positive safe sex message to young men and women through the range of T-shirts, T-shirt dresses, vests and bodies, all carrying the celebrity designs.

“I’m happy to be involved with this campaign,” says Estelle. “I’ve seen the effects of what a dollar or pound can do for someone who doesn’t have access to medicines and even how it can help families affected by AIDS. Together we can raise protective awareness and money for a great cause.”

The Fashion Against AIDS apparel is only available in select stores, so be sure to do some homework before you head out.

I’ve got more pics! Continue reading

Fashions-Night-Out

Some big news for you shopaholics out there.

A few influential people, including NY Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour have announced extra-long opening hours on the first night of Fashion Week.

The initiative is called Fashion’s Night Out, where participating retail stores across the five boroughs will stay open until 11:00 PM on September 10.

What’s so great about it?

Besides extra time to shop, Fashion’s Night Out will provide local retailers with a boost.

Also, it will benefit important New York City causes.

A special limited-edition t-shirt has been created for Fashion’s Night Out and will go on sale at participating retailers three-weeks prior to the event. Proceeds from its sale will support the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.

In addition, shoppers will be encouraged to donate gently used or newly purchased clothes at participating stores or at specifically designated drop-off locations. Clothes will then be collected by the New York City AIDS Fund to benefit HIV/AIDS organizations across the city.

Chanel+Cruise+2010+Fashion+Show+3-0-8NOccuSl

I’m in love already!

I just got access to a few images from the Chanel Cruise 2010 Fashion Show and the looks are crazy!

I note that the raccoon eye theme is still heavy in the makeup department. (*smh*)

Nevertheless, the collection is so ethereal, girly, contemporary and chic! There are ruffles and lace EVERYWHERE! Loves it!

Woody Allen Wins $5 Million Settlement from American Apparel

It’s finally over!

Woody Allen agreed today to accept a $5 million settlement from American Apparel.

This is reported to be the largest amount ever paid under the New York Right to Privacy Statute.

Allen had sued American Apparel in March 2008 for using his image on their billboards, storefront banners, corporate headquarters, and internet website without permission. The settlement comes on the day a jury trial was set to begin in Manhattan. One week earlier, the Court had rejected American Apparel’s principal defenses.

Allen issued a pretty loaded statement today.

“American Apparel calculatingly took my name, my likeness, and image and used them publicly to promote their business. Threats and press leaks by American Apparel designed to smear me did not work and a scheme to call a long list of witnesses who had nothing to do with the case was disallowed by the court. I hope this very large settlement will discourage American Apparel and others from doing this type of thing to myself or others in the future.”

I’m just happy the drama’s all done!

You must’ve heard of HOME by now.

It’s meant to raise awareness on social issues and climate changes.

Alexander McQueen has stepped up to contribute to the HOME project with a limited edition of the signature scarf.

It ‘s kinda cool; if you look at it closely, you’ll see that it’s a photo of a dying earth morphed into a skull.

The 200 scarves will be available exclusively at Alexander McQueen stores ( London/ Milan/ NewYork/ LasVegas/ Los Angeles) and online for U.S. customers only from June 2009.

Profits will be donated to www.goodplanet.org.

Fash Fix: Eva Longoria, Pink, Ashlee

LV-Eva-Longoria2

On Friday, Eva Longoria rocked Louis Vuitton during the Cannes Film Festival.

Sporting a brightly colored pair of LV’s “Gina” sunglasses and Speedy Monogram Eclipse handbag, the actress is pictured here attending a luncheon for the movie, “Precious.”

Singer, Pink kicked off her weekend at a T-Mobile party, putting an interesting twist on a simple burnout T-shirt dress by pairing it with a broad belt. Ashlee Simpson also attended, opting for a sparkly minidress that screamed vintage chic.

Help Charity, Win a Free Botox Treatment?

Vanessa-Williams

I’ve always admired the work Dress for Success does.

But I can’t understand how they got involved in the newest image-boosting effort by BOTOX.

The project is called “BOTOX® Cosmetic: Express Success” and is spearheaded by actress and singer Vanessa Williams.

In total, Dress for Success, will receive a $250,000 donation from Allergan, the makers of BOTOX.

As part of the partnership, Vanessa Williams will host the “BOTOX® Cosmetic: Express Success” campaign launch event with Allergan and Dress for Success on June 30 in Union Square, NYC.

The event includes a celebrity “Rack Relay Race” and clothing drive. If you’ve got nearly new professional clothing, you’re free to participate. To register, visit ExpressSuccessCampaign.com.

The first 100 people to pre-register online and participate in the “Rack Relay Race” will receive a certificate for a physician consultation. According to Allergan, then, “if appropriate,” they’ll receive a complimentary BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment from a licensed and trained aesthetic-specialty physician.
