What We’ll Be Wearing This Fall

HM-Autumn-09

It’s summer!

But while we focus on sunblock, shorts and sandals, autumn fashion is on some people’s minds.

Take for instance the folks at H&M.

They’re giving us a special look at their autumn looks, with the design team having focused heavily on tailoring.

According to them, “they are looking back to traditional styles with refined cuts, details and finish.”

“Tailoring is back on the fashion scene. Classic staples are the obvious choice, but updated and re-modelled”, says H&M’s Head of Design Ann-Sofie Johansson.

This fall, look out for a color palette that features neutrals in black, grey, brown, blue, white and khaki. There’ll also be icy or pale pastels, neons, bright hot colours, jewel colours and gold.

Patterns and prints will feature stripes and prints, flowers, polka dots, wallpaper prints, cartoon motifs, art-inspired prints, jacquard, embroidery, appliqué details and patchwork patterns.

More looks below.

LC Waves Goodbye to The Hills

Last night, Lauren Conrad officially thanked her fans for supporting her during her time on “The Hills.”

The actress / designer made the announcement on her MySpace Blog.

Last night was my last episode of “The Hills”. It was a bittersweet night for me. A part of me is sad to say goodbye to something that has been such a prominent part of my life, but I know that it was time and I am very happy with my decision. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has watched and supported me over the years. While putting my personal relationships and struggles on television wasn’t always easy, the support I received from people made such a difference. Because of all of you, I was able to accomplish so many aspirations and for that I am very grateful. So, THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!

I have some interesting projects in the works and I will keep you all updated.

From what I’ve heard the next season will not disappoint :-)

I wonder what LC’s cooking up…

By the way, if you’re on the bargain hunt, you’ll want to check out Lauren’s online sale event with markdowns of up to 70 percent.

Green is Chic

A LOT TO SAY HOT TANK

Virgin. Turn On. Fuel. Unplug.

These are just a few of the bold environmental statements headlining the T-shirts from a new line, called A Lot To Say.

You’re probably wondering about the seemingly random use of “Virgin” here.

Apparently, virgin plastic is what most shampoo and conditioner bottles are made from. They add to over 35% of waste in landfills. Not sexy.

A Lot To Say shirts for men and women start from $36 and come in styles such as crew tees, tanks and hoodies. The production process is also environmentally friendly.

We’re told that the shirts will be available at select retailers soon, but are available online now at www.alottosay.com.

A Lot To Say is making a positive contribution through their Give Back Program, which donates a portion of their proceeds to charities. Generous proceeds will be given back to Stand Up To Cancer, Animal Rescue Foundation, Children’s Hospice and Palliative Care Coalition and International Green Energy Council.

In more PETA news, Benetton seems to be the latest clothing company being scrutinized by the animal-loving organization.

Apparently, PETA has learned that Benetton will most likely include real fur in its fall/winter 2009 line.

This, they say, “despite knowing that animals on fur farms spend their entire lives confined to cramped, filthy wire cages, often with exposed bones, wounds, and eye infections.”

“While the company has committed to becoming fur-free as of 2010, animals shouldn’t have to endure even one more season of abuse,” PETA continues on their web site.
