Nordstrom Rack to Open in Manhattan

Frugal fashionistas, get ready!

Nordstrom Rack is about to open in Union Square on 14th Street between Broadway and Fourth Avenue.

Spring 2010 should see a whole lot of shoppers snapping up items at 30-70% off regular prices in the huge retail space (32,136 square feet to be precise).

Sidebar: Also joining Nordstrom at One Union Square South is Best Buy, which is expected to open in the former Circuit City space during the fourth quarter of 2009.

JCPenney to Open Manhattan Store

JCPenney has never had a store in Manhattan.

The department store chain will change that on July 31, when they’ll open a new location at 33^rd Street and 6^th Avenue.

Seems they’re announcing their addition to the island’s shopping lineup in a big way.

A grand opening ceremony is planned for July 31, at 9:30 a.m. in Greeley Square Park across the street from the store, with activities continuing throughout the weekend.

According to a release issued by JCPenney, the store will be a “showplace for JCPenney’s stepped-up style in the heart of Manhattan.” It will feature its exclusive brands and designer collaborations, like I “Heart” Ronson, ALLEN B., Bisou Bisou, Fabulosity and nicole by Nicole Miller.

I’m not sure that this will be any real competition for Macy’s, but we’ll see…

Pepsi Pops Up in Fashion Market

Who would have thought?

Pepsi is continuing full steam ahead with its branded apparel.

You may have already seen t-shirts, sweatshirts and pants; Fashion UK’s Pepsi and 7Up t-shirts have, according to reports, sold successfully in popular UK retailer Topshop, among others.

Now we hear that there’s a new deal with Paper House, who will produce greeting cards featuring artwork of the Pepsi bottle cap by famed artist, Andy Warhol.

In addition, Pepsi-Cola products, including stationery and cell phone accessories, shoes and sandals, and handbags and accessories, top the list of new Pepsi licensing agreements.

I guess we should be hearing from Coca-Cola soon…?
