Huge news from the Liz Claiborne brand today.
First, they’re losing money. (Who isn’t in this economy?!)
Next, they’ve signed an agreement with JC Penney, making it the “exclusive department store destination” for all Liz Claiborne and Claiborne merchandise in the States and Puerto Rico.
To top it all off, Liz Claiborne is moving to QVC. Beginning with Fall 2010, the distribution of the Liz Claiborne New York brand designed by Isaac Mizrahi will head to the TV channel. Therefore, the Holiday 2009 collection will be the last of this brand to appear in department stores.
All this, Liz Claiborne says, to help the wholesale brand franchise to swing from an operating loss in 2009 to a targeted adjusted operating profit in 2010.
