Donna Karan’s fall 2009 collection will be fur free.
And it’s because of Tim Gunn.
The make-it-work fashion expert has become the latest celebrity to lend his voice to animals by narrating PETA’s new skins video which he sent with a personal appeal to Donna Karan and Giorgio Armani.
The two designers are known for using rabbit fur in their collections.
Since Tim’s appeal, Donna Karan has indicated that she has “no plans” to use fur in the future.
No word from Mr. Armani yet.
Khloe Kardashian has joined the Rather-Go-Naked Peta movement.
Yesterday, there was a live unveiling of Khloe’s ad in L.A.

If you need a scholarship, rapper/actor/fashion entrepreneur Nelly could be the answer to your prayers.
On Sunday, he hosted the 3rd annual Black and White Ball, St. Louis’ premier celebrity gala party.
That’s when he announced the launch of the “Black and White Ball” Scholarship.
It’s a partnership between the Apple Bottoms creator, Lindenwood University’s Black Student Union and Plaza Motors.
Scholarship deets:
Ashanti, Jermaine Dupri, rapper Murphy Lee, R&B legend Ernie Isley, and NFL stars Steven Jackson, Orlando Pace, and Laurence Maroney were also guests at the ball.
Today Russell Simmons announced the winners of the nationwide creative entrepreneurship competition, the Race to BE.
The Race culminated in New York City on Nov. 21 at the New York Stock Exchange with the final challenge in fashion, BE. The Style.
A young designer named Vaughn Jereaux swept the competition with his bespoke evening dresses and savvy marketing tactics.
I’m really impressed by what I see from such a young designer.
Check out his collection.
Congrats, Vaughn!
I’ve just found a killer pair of shoes at ALDO.
I head to the checkout counter to pay for them.
And just before the sales assistant puts the purchase through, she says, “Would you like to make a donation to fight HIV/AIDS across the world?”
She’s caught me completely off guard.
I’d really love to make a contribution but I’ve already exceeded my budget after picking up a few other items that weren’t on my shopping list today.
What do I do?
That’s completely besides the point.
But here’s what you can do.
ALDO, in partnership with YouthAIDS, is continuing its fight against AIDS by offering Love for Life bracelets.
In conjunction with World AIDS Day, December 1st, these limited edition ALDO Fights AIDS items are available at all ALDO, ALDO Accessories and ALDO Outlet stores, as well as online at www.aldoshoes.com.
ALDO will donate 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of the bracelets to YouthAIDS.
If you love designer handbags and a great bargain, you should keep reading.
New Yorkers For Children and HauteLook.com are having an “It” Bag Sale.
Regular retail prices will be slashed by 40% for great finds by
Designers will donate their hottest “It” handbag to be sold online at HauteLook in the limited-time sale December 1st and 2nd.
All of the proceeds from the sale will benefit New Yorkers for Children, the charity that supports youth in foster care in NYC.
There’s a really cool charity out there that’s just given away 10,000 pairs of Crocs.
They’re the Brother’s Brother Foundation.
And they’ve shipped them all to Guatemala for impoverished children and their families.
The gift is valued at $100,000.
Oh, one more thing.
The shoes are made from recycled materials–a great thing for our environment.
But I can’t help but wonder…If they’re so poor, why not send them food instead?
Brother’s Brother says the shoes go a long way in preventing serious parasite and skin infections, common among poor children around the world who go barefoot.
That’s a good enough explanation, I think.
Thinking about a career in the fashion industry?
Then entering The Art Institutes Passion for Fashion Competition 2009 could help bring you one step closer to that goal. Continue reading
