In Fall 2010, Gap will expand its global network of stores to Australia, with the opening of its first store at the Chadstone Mall in Melbourne.
Why Australia, you ask? Well, Gap thinks the people there could do with a little more American style in their lives, it seems.
“The country has a strong retail sector and an underserved market of consumers who appreciate the casual, American style that Gap represents,” says Stefan Laban, vice president of Strategic Alliances for Gap Inc.
The store will be opened under a franchise agreement. More than 130 franchise stores are currently open in 20 countries, spanning Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
