Red carpet alert! The 2010 MTV Movie Awards air LIVE on Sunday, June 6 at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. C from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.

Except this year, it’s a little different: we get to choose who we see on the red carpet — sort of.

From today through Friday, April 9, MTV will let us vote in 13 categories to select the nominees–our favorite films, superstars and movie moments. They will be included in the May 11 – June 5 winner voting period.

MTV says this year’s show will feature three all-new and outrageous categories, including “BEST ASS-KICKING STAR”, “BEST SCARED-AS S**T PERFORMANCE” and “GLOBAL SUPERSTAR.”

The 2010 “MTV Movie Awards” has a potential viewing audience of more than 1.2 billion people.
