Gucci, Jimmy Choo Go Street with Sneaker Collections

I’d say heels over sneakers any day. But the number of recent emails from fave fashion labels announcing sneaker collections have made me pay attention.

Gucci has been talking about the Gucci Ronson collection, which appears in its traveling sneaker stores (the next stop is London on April 22). That’s where every sneaker-obsessed shopper on the planet can snap up the limited-edition shoes. Though it’s unlikely I’d even entertain a fitting, the result of the design partnership between Frida Giannini and Mark Ronson is admittedly uber-hip.

Enter Jimmy Choo with its “covetable” trainers collection, which hit stores in NYC and London this month. Today, the shoemakers also launched a buzz-building contest, the “Jimmy Choo Trainer Hunt.”  The winner is the first person to identify the trainers in a location publicized by Jimmy Choo through its Facebook, Twitter or Foursquare pages.

Great for sneaker fans, I’d say but I’d be a thousand times more ecstatic about a cool pop-up store stocked with God-sent height-enhancing, sexy-fying shoes. That’s all.
