Department Stores Get Cultural This May

Department stores are celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage Month this May with a pretty impressive lineup of promotions.

For Nordstrom, it’s a knockout designer partnership with designer Phillip Lim, who has produced a limited-edition T-shirt exclusively for Nordstrom.

Going at $85-a-pop, it will be available at 16 Nordstrom stores and online at Nordstrom.com/apahm from May 1. All after-cost proceeds benefit OCA, a national organization dedicated to serving Asian Pacific Americans, says Nordstrom.

Also, Macy’s will launch its “Celebrates You” series of events–in-store gatherings that showcase Asian-Pacific American influences in fashion and style.

Local stylists will take participants to the runway for a fashion presentation featuring models from the National Association of Asian-American Professionals. In addition to the fashion show, attendees can get helpful makeup tips from Shiseido, who will be on hand for tutorials and one-on-one consultations at each event.
