As a firm believer that fashion shouldn’t only be accessible but also wearable, I rejoiced at the sight of Jason Wu’s Fall 2011 runway presentation at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Polka dots, belted waists, tailored looks, fun blazers and sparkly notions featured prominently in the collection. (Was it my imagination, or could I picture Michelle Obama wearing pretty much everything that came down the runway?)

True, it was hard not to be distracted by the harsh makeup and hairstyling. But in the end, the apparel shone through, proving that there’s a reason why Jason Wu–with Mrs. O’s inauguration gown already hanging in the Smithsonian–is still one to watch.
