If you’ve never paid attention to the name Anya Ayoung Chee before, you probably will now.
The designer from Caribbean twin island, Trinidad, was named the winner of Project Runway Season Nine on Thursday night. Let’s not forget she also emerged Fan Favorite.
Anya, whose work stood out during the entire season, definitely kept fans intrigued from her I-just-learned-to-sew introduction to her I-can’t-find-my-money meltdown to her I’ve-got-nothing-to-show-you fiasco during Tim Gunn’s home visit.
But even after all the dramatic twists, the Trinidadian designer still managed to stand out, solidifying her position as a tastemaker and a winner.
Beating out fellow designers Joshua McKinley, Viktor Luna and Kimberly Goldson, Anya walks off with a load of goodies.
- an editorial feature in Marie Claire magazine’s upcoming January issue
- $100,000 from L’Oréal Paris to start her own line
- a $50,000 technology suite from HP and Intel
- the opportunity to design and sell an exclusive collection on Piperlime.com
Can’t wait to see what’s next!
