A Sweet Start to Spring in Washington, D.C.

It’s no secret that I love warm weather!

So naturally, now that it’s Springtime, I’m even more eager to explore my second home, Washington, D.C.

Today, I threw on a dress I’ve been dying to wear since Winter, and took to the streets. It was the perfect day for a cool walk and for checking out sweet spots I’ve been meaning to try–and an old favorite.

Teaism at Penn Quarter

sweet_start_to_spring_tea_house_in_dcI enjoyed the most delightful pot of jasmine pearl tea here, and a healthy yet delicious salty oat cookie. My friend from Barbados who joined me on the trip raved wildly about the lavender lemon mint tea, which I’m definitely going to try on my next visit.

Pitango Gelato

I paired crema and coconut flavors on a cone for a divine Springtime treat. In fact, thinking back on today, this might actually turn out to be the creamiest, smoothest gelato I’ve ever had in life.

Red Velvet Cupcakery

I’m a huge vanilla fan (typically labeled as dull!), but this cupcake was far from. Every bite was packed with rich vanilla flavor–so much that it took every bit of self control not to buy a second. This visit reminded me how much I love Red Velvet Cupcakery, which I admittedly overlook in a city with no shortage of national cupcake brands.

What’s next for me? Many more Springtime stops! But first, an intense workout session after today’s sugary shenanigans!
