Where to shop for home décor in Barbados: An unexpected discovery

In Barbados, people celebrate Christmas by giving their homes a design overhaul. I don’t go all the way like some of my relatives and neighbors, but I do try to add a bit of this (or that) to my space for the holidays. This tradition is part of the reason why I recently took a trip to  Millhouse in Canewood, the home décor hub of Barbados.

It’s there that I discovered a new addition to the lineup: Standard Distribution & Sales. And this is not the “Standard” your grandparents knew and loved. Get the images of what-nots  and mahogany gossip benches out of your head, and think fresh, contemporary décor (without the big price tag).

I popped by this evening to find them unpacking new inventory for last-minute Christmas shoppers. In under 15 minutes, I picked out some pretty neat options just right for freshening up any space for the holidays.

Do you live in Barbados, and have you been to the new Standard location? What did you think about it, and what were some of your faves?
