Today, I woke up bursting with pride because Barbados, my homeland, is celebrating 50 years of Independence.
Of course, I took time to prepare and treat my friends and loved ones to a few Bajan delicacies–with a twist.

It’s a balmy evening in Barbados and I’m sitting face to face with Paul Carrick Brunson. Endorsed by Oprah, adored by tens of thousands of social media fans and now, by a group of Barbadian women who have just heard him speak on life, love and success.
Paul, a mentor, entrepreneur and TV host, known for his matchmaking skills, is here as the keynote speaker at an inspirational event, Live Again: The Barbados Experience. The universe conspired for me to interview him for this post and I am beyond grateful! You’ll see why as you read on.
Ever posted content you put your all into creating? And when it went LIVE, it got just a handful of likes? And they weren’t even from the people whose attention you really wanted to get? Just a few friends, family and relatives hitting that “like” button to remind you that they were cheering you on?
It’s scenarios like this that make brands and businesses look for the easy way out in a cutthroat, competitive digital space. But few fully understand how social media shortcuts and digital faux pas can alienate customers and followers, and even lead to reputation and financial losses.
Last month, I invited a few friends over and included gourmet popcorn in the snack lineup.
When my guests started asking where it was from, I couldn’t help but smirk a little. Truth is, it wasn’t store-bought, I hadn’t spent a fortune on it–and I’d made it under 10 minutes.
I thought I would share the recipe with you.
First, thank you so much for reading and sharing my last post. The response was overwhelming.
Not too long after I shared photos from my northern tour online, I started getting lots of requests for outfit details.
If you’re in Barbados and reading this, I’ve got good news.
