On Tuesday, Kimora Lee Simmons launched her 21st Century Collection at New York Fashion Week.
According to a statement released by her camp, the collection was “synonymous with a lifestyle of extravagance, confidence and femininity.”
You may also have noticed 1940s references juxtaposed with today’s classic rock.
Hence the dramatic pearls, ruffled shirts and sequin blazers, pairing with delicate dresses with large jewel studs and vintage, chained, tapered denim on the runway.
The Fall 2009 collection also features graphic tees with inspirational messages like, “timeless classic,” “confidence,” and “love your self.”
Somebody please tell me she used faux fur for this collection!

One trend to watch after this should be too-long belts which accessorized almost every look.
Très cool — in a messy kind of way, like the updos on the models.
And, of course, ruffles continue to be a trademark of women’s collections.
Looks like they’re here to stay–for a while at least.
