When the Top 10 Colors for Spring 2016 were announced, I thought they were beautiful. But I was also 100% sure I wouldn’t be wearing many of them. You see, I’m more of a “neutral girl” with an addiction to black, white and grey. Buying bright colors requires a lot of effort from me.
Last week was the week that seemed like it had no end. It was eventful and emotional.
At its close, I found myself in the belly of Barbados, surrounded by nature in ways I had never seen it. I was exploring Hunte’s Gardens, so named “the most enchanting place on Earth.”
I loved fashion as a young girl growing up in Barbados. But as I got older, it was hard to ignore that we had a unique fashion vocabulary of our own.
If you aren’t from the island and ever went shopping in Barbados, you probably noticed there’s a different stylespeak here, too.
Just for fun, I’m listing seven Bajan fashion misnomers that are as common as they are fascinating.

In September, I attended the launch of The Limited collection inspired by the hit TV series, “Scandal.”
At that event, held at the Fashion Center at Pentagon City, I met Lyn Paolo and Elliot Staples, two brains behind the collection and fitted one of my favorite dresses from the line–the tulip skirt sheath dress.
Fast forward to December, during my trip to Barbados, where I had a little photoshoot fun with the look.
After the snowstorms and blizzards and heavy rains on the side of the world, girls who love sunshine are champing at the bit for warm weather.
But already, my attention has been diverted to Fall, when Summer wardrobes will give way to deeper palettes, heavier fabrics and new trends.
Today, I am going where this blog has never gone before.
And it’s got plenty to do with my experience during the past few months. In short, I’ve had a temperamental time with my tresses.
It’s no secret that I’ve got a slight obsession with H&M.
The store is my go-to for fast fashion at a great price.
And as Winter steps in, H&M has released its Spring/Summer 2014 lookbooks for men and women.
From breezy, understated pieces to fun, eye-catching prints, there’s a lot to look forward to.
Check out the lookbooks and let me know what you think. Enjoy!
