Macy’s has announced the launch of six new fashion collections for spring, some by a few well-known names.
But the one that stands out for me most is Kouture by Kimora.
In stores March 2010, the line, mainly for juniors, smacks of the model-mom-mogul’s fabulosity. In fact, Macy’s says it will feature trendy body-loving looks with eye-catching embellishments, vibrant colors and energetic prints.
If you’re a budget fashionista, you’ll love that prices range from $24 to $40.
Look for retro jackets, off-shoulder blouses, fun rompers and flirty dresses as part of Kouture by Kimora, which will also release a Fall 2010 collection.
In other department store fashion news, last night JCPenney hosted their Discover Spring Style event at Lincoln Center in NYC.

Looks like Russell Simmons will join ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons and brother, Rev Run, on reality TV.
This brings the Simmons dynasty on the small screen to a total of four shows: “Run’s House,” “Daddy’s Girls,” “Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane”–and now, “The Russell Simmons Project.”
In response to swirling speculation about Baby Phat’s future, Kimora Lee Simmons today issued a curt statement, hinting at possible reorganization at Kellwood Company.
As has been recently reported in the press, Kellwood Company is exploring a number of opportunities to strengthen the company’s financial position, including a possible restructure.
Whatever course that Kellwood should take, I want to ensure my consumers and supporters that this will have no effect on our Phat Fashions business which includes Baby Phat, Phat Farm, and Fabulosity brands, and all of their respective categories. All of Phat Fashions products, including Baby Phat apparel are licensed and manufactured by separate companies operating as licensees, not Kellwood Company, and therefore are operated as independent entities. Therefore, Kellwood’s actions will have no impact on the manufacturing and delivery of our goods. We will continue to take fashion to new heights and provide the same fabulous products for a glamorous lifestyle. All of our businesses remain strong and Baby Phat has recently expanded internationally into over 100 territories. I am, as always dedicated to bringing confidence, beauty and fashion to women all over the world. It’s still the same sexy, sassy and stylish brand that you have known for the past 15 years.
Meanwhile, in Twitterville, all appeared business as usual at Baby Phat today.
“Summer Sizzle…Shop the newest, hottest looks from the Pre-Fall Baby Phat collection. Click link to view. http://www.babyphat.com/shop.php,” tweeted @BabyPhat.
Today Page Six published a report on Kimora’s new baby, revealing his name and the inspiration behind it.
KIMORA has a Kenzo. Kimora Lee Simmons (above) and Djimon Hounsou gave their baby boy the very fashionable name Kenzo Lee Hounsou, inspired no doubt by retired Japanese fashion icon Kenzo Takada. Kenzo, born here Saturday, weighed in at 8 pounds, and was 20 inches long. “He’s a little prince,” said a friend. This is Kimora’s third child — she has two daughters, Ming Lee and Aoki Lee, with her ex-husband, Russell Simmons.
