Huge news from the Liz Claiborne brand today.
First, they’re losing money. (Who isn’t in this economy?!)
Next, they’ve signed an agreement with JC Penney, making it the “exclusive department store destination” for all Liz Claiborne and Claiborne merchandise in the States and Puerto Rico.
Last Thursday, Isaac Mizrahi launched his new Liz Claiborne New York collection.
It all went down at Macy’s Herald Square with a whole lot of hooplah.
I really like the new, youthful energy Isaac is bringing to Liz Clairborne, which customarily appeals to a middle-aged market.

Some of the friendly faces at your favorite Juicy store may not be there at the end of the quarter.
That’s because Liz Claiborne Inc., which designs and markets brands, including Juicy Couture, is cutting costs.
According to a statement released today, it’s “in response to the highly uncertain economic environment.”
725 people will lose their jobs.
That’s 8 percent of the company’s workforce.
“Personnel decisions are always the hardest, especially in times like these. And while reducing head count is not the only cost cutting measure being implemented, it is certainly the most difficult,” said William L. McComb, CEO.
Can this situation improve already?! Sheesh!

Today, he bought fashion label ENYCE from Liz Claiborne.
In case you can’t remember, Enyce is a denim based sportswear brand for men and boys and also has a women’s line.
In true no-bitchassness style, Diddy said he and Liz Claiborne will work together to ensure a smooth and orderly transition for retail partners, vendors and employees.
Add Enyce to the portfolio of brands that he already owns, including Sean John and Zac Posen.
Then go ahead and top that with his marketing of Ciroc Vodka, Unforgivable by Sean John, and all of his television titles.
There can be no argument. Diddy rules.
