For the past three days, snow and ice have hit Washington, D.C. well ahead of winter’s scheduled December 21 arrival.
As I looked out the window at the snow falling today, I was reminded of a time when, as an island girl new to this city, I got cold-weather fashion and beauty all wrong. Think unflattering layering, cracked lips, and ashy skin. Sigh.
But after practice and trial by error, it’s been much easier balancing looking cute with beating the cold. If you’re new to wintry weather and want quick tips, here are my recommendations on how to dress for winter, plus a couple beauty and skincare must-haves.
Feel-good music is a must during summer.
Today, I can’t seem to get enough of “Touch” by Natasha Bedingfield–a springy, upbeat soundtrack for sunshiny days.
You’ll probably be hearing lots more of it, since it’s been named the official theme song of the NIVEA Happiness campaign and the 2010 AVP NIVEA Happiness Tour.
“Touch” will also be featured in NIVEA’s newest commercials.
H&M will launch its first ever skincare line at the beginning of March 2010.
The line, featuring certified organic ingredients, includes shower gel, body scrub, body lotion, hand cream and lip balm.
H&M says the products are available in the fragrance combinations of raspberry and melon or lavender and mint.
They’re also accompanied by make-up and toilet bags made from organic cotton.
No word yet on U.S. prices but European price points look a bit like this.
