Who Wore What :: 16th Annual SAG Awards

It was a mixed bag of looks that streamed along the red carpet at the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards last night.

Here’s our roundup of the top five trends that got our attention.

Check out the pics after the jump.

  1. Red floor-length gowns featuring an asymmetrical shoulder. Mariah Carey, Katrina Bowden and Kristina Hendricks shared similar looks
  2. Shortened hemlines in off-white à la Marion Cotillard, Jennifer Carpenter  and Sherri Shepherd
  3. Soft, flowy fabrics as seen on Mariana Klaveno, Julie Benz, Diane Kruger and Paula Patton, who also sported a baby bump
  4. Patricia Arquette, Penelope Cruz, Michelle Monaghan and Toni Collette put sparkly looks with embellished detailing in the spotlight
  5. Patterned fabrics were also featured in Meryl Streep’s and Anna Paquin’s looks

Shontelle: Fresh Sound, Fresh Style

shontelle-one

Singer, Shontelle gave the T-Shirt a new twist when her debut single (titled “T-Shirt”) hit the charts last year.

Since then we’ve heard from her and Akon on the “Confessions of A Shopaholic” soundtrack with “Stuck with Each Other.”

In this interview, the leggy Barbados-born artist dishes on when she sold her soul to Louis Vuitton and explains why she’d want to be Oprah’s handbag — if she could!

Who were your fashion icons before you got signed?
I have always loved Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Diana Ross, Heidi Klum, Sienna Miller, Penelope Cruz, Victoria Beckham, Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell! Rihanna and Katy Perry are 2 of my new favs.

Now that you’ve got access to a seemingly endless supply of clothing, what are your favorite labels?
OMG! What are you trying to start here? I love so many brands but I must say there are a few that consistently grab my attention: Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Stella McCartney, Valentino Garavani, DSquared, Chip and Pepper, Tripp, D&G, Hermes, Alexander Mcqueen, Betsey Johnson, Jimmy Choo, Herve Leger and anything by Max Azria (BCBG), Bebe, Ralph Lauren and the list goes on and on and on!

Since you began your international music career, what’s been your favorite fashion moment?
I think my fav fashion moment was when I shot the T-Shirt video. I wore a pastel peach colored Herve Leger dress and a hot pair of gold Jimmy Choos. Now I’ve worn many brands and many outfits but I just love the way that dress fits my body so perfectly and the color accentuates my skin tone. Legs aint lookin too bad either! I also really enjoyed rockin’ the runway with Elle and Caravan during New York Fashion week ’08.

  1. Robin Roberts of ABC News took a cue from the First Lady. She wore J.Crew.
  2. Miley looked like a true Disney princess in her ornate Zuhair Murad gown.
  3. Kate Winslet was classic in Saint Laurent.
  4. Sarah Jessica Parker described the color of her dress as “dreamy mint.” It was by Dior Haute Couture.
  5. Natalie Portman and Alicia Keys wore similarly shaded dresses but both looked lovely.
  6. Taraji P. Henson’s Cavalli gown was as beautiful as her personality is.
  7. E! reporters prayed Penelope Cruz would divert from her customary red-carpet black. She did…and the result was stunning!
  8. Heidi Klum’s accessories were delicious. (Stay tuned to find out how you can win one of the charms she wore).
  9. Angelina Jolie looked like…well, like Angelina Jolie!
  10. Beyonce rocked a boldly patterned dress. I’m still not crazy about it but the leading fashion critics are.
  11. Freida Pinto’s gown was true to her Indian roots. It was authentically Bollywood.
  12. Vanessa Hudgens’ dress was supposed to be short. Marchesa was gracious enough to lengthen it and customize it for her.
  13. Jessica Biel was pretty in Prada.
  14. Back to Alicia Keys; her date was her mom.
  15. So was Miley’s.
