Young Cancer Patients Design Shoes for Nike

For the sixth year, Nike has given young cancer patients the opportunity to design their own sneakers.

This year, the inspiring partnership between the sports brand and the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, has paired six kids between 11 and 14 with Nike designers.

According to Nike, the shoes created express the patients’ personal stories and will help add to the $2 million+ that have been raised through the program.

All profits from the Doernbecher Freestyle Collection benefit the hospital in many ways, including providing healthcare to uninsured patients.

The MRSP for the collection begins at $88.

LA Gear Making A Comeback

I can’t believe people are gonna be wearing these again!

From 1989-1990, the Unstoppable line from LA Gear was all the rage.

Now in 2009, the sneaker company has seen it fit to do a limited edition release of the Stardust in the US.

Available in five colors – light grey, white/blue, white/grey/green, white/lilac/green, and light pink, they still have the signature rhinestones and bow-tie in the back.

Apparently, the limited edition run only consists of 89 pairs and went on sale Wednesday night. Check them out.

Customize Your Kicks with adidas

Every five-inch-heel-loving fashionista needs to get casual every now and then.

adidas has launched a pretty cool option to help us stand out–even in sneakers and sweats.

They’ve launched “mi Originals” so you can design and personalize your sneakers online, anytime and anywhere.

Only four options are available for customization so far but the athletic brand promises to add more throughout 2009.

“All shoes can be customized in terms of colors and fabrics while almost every visible footwear component- such as eye stay, shoe laces, outsole and the iconic 3-Stripes- can be personalized,” they say.

And just like the Nike option that launched a while back, you can also personalize your own individual embroidery on the shoe.

Check out or visit the adidas Originals Atelier store in Soho, NYC to craft your own sneakers.
