It’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week time in New York City again. Yay!
The highly anticipated event runs September 5-12 at the Lincoln Center, where designers will showcase their looks for Spring / Summer 2014
Now let me be honest, with the passing of every Fashion Week, I’m almost always overwhelmed by all of the runway shows, singling out the trends worth tracking, new designers, fabrics, colors, textures, silhouettes, … You get the picture!
This time around, I’m serving up New York Fashion Week Light. I’ll be sharing five standout, showstopping looks from each day of runway shows. That’s easier to digest than 80+ runway shows over eight days!
As I viewed Tommy Hilfiger’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection, I thought to myself, “Classic American fashion never looked so now!”
I’m not kidding, the runway presentation was an amazingly contemporary take on prep.
Totally what it-girls everywhere ought to have in their closets for days when crisp, statement-making styling is required.

Justin Timberlake’s fashion brand, William Rast, best known for its denim designs, has ventured on to a new fashion path.
Today parent company, People’s Liberation, confirmed the 2011 debut of William Rast Eyewear and William Rast Racing Eyewear.
Viva International Group, linked with brands like GUESS, Escada and Tommy Hilfiger, will produce and distribute the new collections.
William Rast eyewear, which will include sunglasses and prescription pieces, will be available in William Rast stores, upscale department stores and specialty retailers.

Today, the American fashion industry announced one of the latest, fashion-focused efforts to raise monies for the Caribbean island.
This Christmas, Macy’s is trying to capture your heart (and hoping you’ll spend your money with them!).
For the holidays, you’ll see “Believe Stations” in their stores.
And don’t be surprised if you see the department store’s “stars” on your TV this Christmas reaching out to you with lines from “Yes, Virginia,” a classic holiday editorial.

The store has also launched a really cool Believe web site.
Thanks to Macy’s, for the holidays you can download a letter kit complete with official Santa letterhead, and design your own “Claus” with the “Be Claus” application.
“Be Claus” personalization allows customers to upload a photo and design themselves as Santa Claus.
The Believe campaign benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation® and will also be run en español.
